Not only was industrial Southeast in dire need of a fun and fresh brewery, but Vagabond has gone above and beyond to provide for the demanding expectations of Portland beer connoisseurs.
Due to the fact they were already an established Salem staple, they hit the ground running with a variety of good beer. My personal favorite is the All Rye, All Rye, All Rye, which fits in perfectly with their fun and free-spirited demeanor.
The vintage-meets-modern decor creates an atmosphere that I actually want to be in, and it’s natural lighting makes it bright, without the harsh overhead brightness found in other overly-child-friendly breweries. Their color scheme is a vibrant restoration of 1970’s mustard yellows, rusty oranges, and popping blues, as best displayed by the front entry mural.
Not only is Vagabond already the best new place to hang out, but they’re only getting better. They technically haven’t even had their grand opening yet, which plans to see a photo-booth built into the ceiling-suspended 1958 Cessna. I also hope to see some outdoor seating available by summer.
